A welcoming and supportive community

A community that is attentive to the crucial role of education and educational and extracurricular activities. A community that embraces the different cultures that coexist here, leaves no one by the wayside, encourages mutual support between citizens, social and intergenerational ties, and the sharing of talents and skills.

CONTEXT

Our world is facing a number of challenges that are both disturbing and worrying: energy, demographics (our aging population), climate, geopolitics, society and health. These are global issues, of course, but at the local level, we have levers at our disposal to prepare for these changes and meet them head on. By strengthening social cohesion and mutual aid within our neighborhoods, by bringing out the hidden talents that exist nearby, by developing intergenerational care, we can combat the loneliness that weakens physical and mental health, but above all we can make our residents and neighborhoods more resilient in the face of the crises we are about to face. A more cohesive society is better prepared to take on all the challenges facing society in a positive way.

Our position

To strengthen solidarity and social cohesion in Wezembeek-Oppem, we want to promote caring neighborhoods, where everyone feels comfortable and safe in their familiar surroundings at home and on the public highway, where young and old know each other, help each other, and support those who need it.
