A green and sustainable community
A responsible and resilient community that sets an example by making a concrete commitment to the environment and biodiversity, and encourages and supports its citizens to do the same, for a healthy future for all.
CONTEXT
A previous legislature ambitious in declarations; not in deeds.
In 2014, the commune signed the Covenant of Mayors and committed to reducing GHG emissions by 25% by 2025 compared with 2011. In 2023, it reaffirmed this commitment by adopting a Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP), aiming for a 40% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050. However, action has not kept pace: emissions were only 8% lower in 2020 than in 2011, far short of the targets. The conclusion is the same for the Local Energy and Climate Pact (LEKP): high ambitions, but no targets achieved. What's more, urbanization has accelerated, with a loss of green space of 0.7 ha/year since 2016, compared with 0.1-0.4 ha/year previously.
