A community with multimodal mobility

A community that harmoniously integrates different modes of transport to combine smooth, safe travel with quality of life.

CONTEXT

The municipal mobility plan was approved in December 2023. The plan is ambitious in spirit and in the actions it sets out. The next few years will see the implementation of numerous measures to make it easier and safer for everyone to get around, in and around the commune.

Mobility is part of the town's urban planning vision. It must serve this vision, be a service to citizens in their daily lives, and contribute to their health. It must bring residents closer together, not pit them against each other.

Our position

We want to promote 'fluid' and 'safe' traffic within the commune and between it and neighboring communes, offering users a real choice between different modes of transport.

By facilitating soft and shared mobility, we contribute to the health of every citizen and to the commune's environmental objectives.

Finally, we advocate pro-active collaboration with other mobility players (region, neighboring municipalities, STIB, De lijn...).

OBJECTIves 2030

  • The sidewalk plan is defined and implementation has begun

  • Every child can travel to school smoothly and safely

  • Accessibility and comfort at public transport stops (bus, tram, metro) are improved.

  • A shared mobility service is available in Wezembeek-Oppem.

Our actions

  • Renovate and improve our sidewalks to ensure accessibility and comfort for all, through a coordinated multi-year plan.

  • Enable every family to get to school via a smooth, safe route using all means of transport.

  • Improve the accessibility and comfort of bus, tram and metro stops (in partnership).

  • Set up mobility hubs with, among other things, car-sharing, secure bicycle parking, etc.

Your suggestions

In our surveys and discussions, we've noted your expectations:

  • I want bike paths, but “No to the all-for-the-bike diktat”.

  • Important to have promenades and spaces for pedestrians and their pets

  • I want a commune where roads, sidewalks and parks are maintained
