A community that promotes health and well-being
A healthy community that encourages physical activity, promotes soft mobility, reduces pollution, invests in prevention and access to healthcare, and promotes social cohesion.
CONTEXT
The shortage of medical and nursing staff and the ageing of the population call for a proactive policy to guarantee sufficient front-line care and innovative organization of chronic care for the elderly. The community has essential levers at its disposal to stimulate health for all. Scientific studies attest to this, and the WHO has been hammering it home for years: social determinants, nutrition, social cohesion, the environment, housing, mobility, education... have as much impact on health as healthcare. A more cohesive, inclusive society that forges social links will reduce the loneliness that makes people ill. Spatial planning that encourages people to get around on foot or by bike naturally increases daily physical activity and reduces the impact of sedentary lifestyles and obesity.
